Miki's Journey....
My journey with dogs began as a child traveling to shows with my mother and our collies. I finished my first champion at age 12, and an obedience title the next year. In 1974, I acquired my first Lhasa Apso and fell in love with this unique Tibetian breed. This led me to Paul & Lois Voigt of Wellington Lhasas who proved to be a bottomless wealth of knowledge and lifelong friends. In recent years, arthritis has forced me to scale back on the grooming needed to keep lhasas in full coat. In no way ready to contemplate giving up the art & sport of raising and showing dogs, I began to research other breeds that would fit my lifestyle. In the early chapters of my life, I graduated from Control Data Institute, was a small business owner, and mother to four unique, wonderful kids. As life has carried me through it's ups and downs and the years have passed, I studied at the Minnehaha Institute of Art pursuing my love of sculpture and art and enjoying becoming a grandmother and (gasp!) great grandma!
My first cavaliers came from established kennels in Wales and Australia. My goals remain the same with both my Lhasa's and with my Cavaliers--- to maintain the unique qualities of each breed that make them special while striving to produce healthy, happy dogs of sound quality.
